英語のおはなし　【"and" と"or"の便利な使い方】

今日は接続詞　andとor についての話です。 

英語を勉強したことある方は、A and Bのように　and ＝～と/ A or B のように　or＝～またはという意味であることはご存じだと思います。 

今日はそれ以外の便利な使い方についても紹介いたします 😀

【選択が2つの場合】

 コーヒーとジュースを買いに行きます。（AとB）

I'm going to buy some coffee and juice.

 コーヒーかジュースを買いに行きます。 （AかB）

I'm going to buy some coffee or juice.　

【選択が３つ以上の場合】

オリンピックでは野球　水泳競技　卓球を観ました！（A,B,C,のすべて） 

I watched baseball, swimming and table Tennis at the Olympics コンマを組み合わせ最後をand で繋げます。

※ A,B and C ⭕

 A and B and C❌ このようにand を連続でいれるのは不自然です。 

 or の場合も同様で

どのワクチン打ったの？（A,B,C,のうちどれか） 

Which vaccine did you get...Pfizer, Astra Zeneca or Moderna? コンマを組み合わせ最後をorで繋げます。

※ A,B or C ⭕

 A or B or C❌ここでも or を連続で使うのは不自然なのできおつけましょう。 

 【and とor の組み合わせ （A ＋B かC）】

　 彼女に新しい鞄と、ピアスかネックレスを誕生日に買おうかな 

I'm going to buy her a new bag and maybe some earrings or a necklace for her birthday.

 たこ焼き作って、あとはマクドナルドかケンタッキーでも頼もうか！

 I think I'll make some Takoyaki for the party and then order take out from McDonalds or Kentucky Fried Chicken, 

 カフェなどで、「何するか決めた？」Have you decided what you're having? 
コーヒーを頼んでケーキかドーナツ頼もうかな!

 I'll definitely have some iced coffee and I'll probably get some cake or donuts. 

 文章としてはながくなりますが、接続詞をうまく使えば1文にまとめることができます。 【

【命令文＋andの組み合わせ 】

(～しなさい、そうすれば〇〇できるよ　肯定的） 

毎日練習なさい！そしたら試合に勝てるよ

 Practice every day and you'll win the game! 

 勉強がんばり、そしたら試験に受かるよ 

Study hard and you'll pass the exam. 

 急いで！そしたら遅刻しないですむから 

Hurry up and you won't be late for school. 

 ご飯ぴっかんしたらデザートあるよ！

 Finish up your dinner and you can have some dessert！ （絵をだす） 

 【命令文＋orの組み合わせ 】

(～しなさい、そうしなければ　否定的）

 毎日練習なさい！じゃないと試合に負けちゃうよ 

Practice every day or you'll lose the game! 

 勉強がんばり、じゃなきゃ試験に落ちちゃうよ！

 Study hard or you will fail in the exam. 

 急いで！でなきゃ、遅刻するよ。

 Hurry up or you'll be late for school. 

 ご飯ぴっかんしないとデザートないよ！

 Finish up your dinner or you won't get any dessert. 

 クラスメイトと仲良くしないと、友達なくすよ！

Be nice to your classmates or you won't have any friends.

  ゲームしすぎたら宿題する時間なくなるよ！

 Don't play video games for too long or you won't have enough time to finish your homework. 

 これらはYou must/ need to/have toに置き換えて使う事も出来ます。 

 誰もが知っているandとorですが、使い方の幅を広げて是非実践してみてください。
