英語を勉強したことある方は　❝As❞　いたるところで見た事ありませんか？

いったいどう使うんだろう・・・

テストの時良く出てきたな・・・

と思われている方は多いと思います。

Asって8個～10個くらい意味があるんです・・・🎈(私もこのへんは曖昧でした…）

and/ orのように接続詞としてのas  前置詞としてのas （たまに副詞もかな）があるんですが、

 asはわりとフォーマル な言い方で使われることが多い…という事。

話し言葉だと少しオカタイという感じ程度ですが…確かに、友達との会話ではそんなに使わないかも…というのが　ASです！

今日は、頻繁に使われるAS　6パターンを紹介いたします。

  📰→フォーマル　　😀話し言葉

①～なので　理由（because 的な）のas 

 📰   I got my hair cut as it was getting too long. (髪の毛が伸びてきたので髪を切った）

 😀   I got my hair cut because it was getting too long.  

📰  I couldn't buy anything as I was broke.（金欠のため何も買えなかった）

😀  I couldn't buy anything because I was broke.

 ②～の時、～しながら　前と後ろの出来事が同時進行/   Happening at the same time. 

📰😀  It started to rain as the concert finished.　（コンサートが終わった途端雨が降ってきた）

📰As she was on the train home, she thought about what to cook for dinner.  

（彼女は帰りの電車で夕飯の献立を考えた）

😀 She thought about what to cook for dinner on her way home.

③　～と同様に　人や物を比較する Comparing to something or someone. 

 📰😀  My son is as tall as me. 　　　　　　　（息子は私と同じ背丈だ）

 📰😀  I don't have as many books as you. （あなたほど本はたくさん持ってないわ）

 📰😀  Mike's not as handsome as James.　　（マイクはジェームスほどハンサムではない）

 📰😀  Takatsuki's not as busy as Umeda.　　（高槻は梅田ほど栄えてない）

 ④～として　仕事・立場を説明するとき/   talking about our job, role 

📰😀As his mum, I can't forgive his attitude. 

　　彼の母として、あの子の態度は許せないわ！

📰😀My husband works as a Physical therapist.

　　私の旦那さんは理学療法士として働いている。

 ⑤～はというと　別の人や物について話するとき talking about someone/something else.

 📰 My sister works at a hospital, as for my brother I have no idea what he does. 

 😀 My sister works at a hospital, actually I'm not sure what my brother does.

(姉/妹は　病院勤務だけど、兄/弟に関しては何をしているか知らない）

📰 The conference starts at 4, as for the banquet we haven't decided yet. 

 😀 The conference begins at 4, but we haven't decided when the banquet will star.

（会議は4時に開始だが、宴会に関してはまだ（何時か）決まってない。）

⑥まるで　～みたいに as if/though 

 📰    She speaks English as if she was a native speaker. 

 😀    She speaks like a native speaker.

(彼女ネイティブみていに話すよね）　

 📰😀You speak as if you were my mum.　（あなたって、私の母みたい）

 📰😀He acts as if he's God's gift to women.

　　　　　　　（彼はすべてがパーフェクト神からのギフトのような人）

📰😀It looks as if it's going to rain.（雨が降り出しそう）

 📰😀He looks as if he's gained a bit of weight.（彼、太ったんじゃない？）
